New in this version is a tree of update groups in addition top the tree of categories. This makes it easy to see which sites are in which update group, edit the sites within each group, drag and drop sites between groups and start an update. The Next Site and Prev Site buttons also work to navigate through the list of sites in a group.

Update Groups are a quick and easy way to group a number of sites to be downloaded at a selecting date and time. You can create groups named after particular times of day when they will be downloaded, or name them after the types of site you want to put in that group to be updated together. Groups can be downloaded automatically or manually.

Also in this release:

A fix for some problems with cookie support.

Fixes when deleting sites including an issue which caused the files in the site to not be deleted properly.

A fix for new installs which caused the splash screen and connection type screens to appear together and be unusable

Registered users of PageNest Pro V3 can update for free using the information in their registration email.

Registered users of earlier versions can upgrade to V3 at http://pagenest.com/upgrade.html

A trial version of V3.01 can be downloaded at http://pagenest.com/download.html

WebStripper becomes PageNest V3

WebStripper has now been renamed PageNest, and version 3 is now available.

The chief new features of V3 are:

Completely rewritten HTML parsing engine. The new engine is up to twice as fast the previous version and also makes it easier for us to add some exciting new features in future updates.

Fully revised support for logging in (authentication). PageNest can now log in via both HTTP and forms based logins. You do not need to know which type of login the site uses - PageNest will automatically use the correct method.

Cookie support: V3 fully supports the sending and receiving of cookies (this can be turned off from the site properties/Options page).

V3 includes full CSS support for more accurate page reproduction.

The Site Wizard has been completely revamped with icons instead of text links between the pages.

Version 3 introduces 'Update Groups'. An update group specifies dates and times when a site will be automatically updated. You can, for example, create a group of sites to download before you arrive at work in the morning.

The 'site tree', as well as other parts of PageNest will now show the favicon for a site, it one is available.

An optional icon in the system tray allows faster access to PageNest.

Purchase a copy for US$39.95.
Users of WebStripper version 2 and earlier can upgrade for US$9.95
Some recent purchases have qualified for a free upgrade to version 3. To see if you qualify, start WebStripper and go to Help, About. If the box listing your details have a line 'Version: 3', you can get a free upgrade by visiting here.

V3 Beta 4 - Create a personalised daily newspaper of your favorite sites

V3 beta 4 of WebStripper has been uploaded.

This beta marks a change in focus for WebStripper. It has been, and always will be a leading offline browser, but with this version you can use it to create a daily (our weekly, monthly or hourly) newspaper created from your favorite websites.

Sites can be added to Update Groups. Each Update Group gives flexible options to tell WebStripper when the sites in the group will be updated. WebStripper will download the sites at the specified times and add them to it's recent updates list, which is displayed at start up on the Welcome Page. You can use the Next Site and Previous Site buttons on the toolbar to move between the downloaded sites.

Other changes in this version include:

Redesigned, much prettier Site Wizard: each page now has it's own icon. Click the icon to go straight to the page, or use it as a wizard with the Forward and Back buttons.

Added an item on the Options menu to edit the Update Groups

Fixed: CSS files will now be parsed properly (previously they where converted to zero byte files).

Javascript which uses strings within strings will now be parsed properly

Fixed issue with fileicon.ico file(s) being added to the list of files on each update.

Fixed code to determine whether a login uses HTTP or a form.

Added support for @import fields within CSS

Fixed parsing of quotes within quotes within javascript (previously this would cause parsing of the page to finish).

Fixed display of Favicons when the path on the hard disk contains a space.

You can download a trial copy here and registered users can download a full version by following the link in their registration emails. Note that this beta will expire towards the end of the year.

V2.76 Released

Version 2.76 has been uploaded.

Changes in this version are:

Redesigned and much more attractive toolbar.

Added Prev Site and Next Site buttons to the toolbar. These move either between items in the recent download list, or the list of sites in the currently selected group within the site tree depending on how how the current site was loaded.

Added a Propertes link to the Welcome Page to edit a sites properties

Fixed parsing of mime-type which have extra data after a semi-colon.
(This lead to sites not being updated properly when QuickUpdate was selected).

Fixed potential lockup when reparsing.

Fixed and revised Add Site section of Welcome Page/

Fixed: If the connnection is not available, or another network error occurs, the correct
'root file' of the site will now be used.

Fixes to the updating of the Welcome Page after a download.

Fixed bug with new sites downloading whilst being edited when added from Welcome Page

Fixed non-detection of new keycodes on start up/

As usual the trial version can be downloaded from here and the full version is a free upgrade for V1 and V2 users by visiting the page in your registration email.

V2.75 - Better Browsing

Changes in this version:

The built in browser will no longer show annoying 'JavaScript error' dialogs.

Fix to an access violation when viewing a site via the Browse link in the Welcome Page (and probably via other links also).

Menu items to 'Open in (external) Browser' and 'Open in (Windows) Explorer' have been added to the Site main menu bar list. These options make it easier to view a website in your preferred browser and to explore and edit a site.

The clipboard listener no longer pops up a dialog when running automatically (scheduled).

These features/fixes will also be added to the next beta release.

As always, you can download the trial version here and the full version through the link in your registration email.

V2.74 - Bug Hunting

V2.74 is now available which includes a number of bug fixes:

First up was a bug introduced in the last release where a couple of dialog boxes showing numbers would be displayed before the Site Wizard was displayed. Oops.

V2.73 also introduced a bug affecting AutoUpdating sites which where set to download on a Saturday. On each Saturday every such site would enter into an infinite loop of downloads.

The main forms window state should now be restored properly on restarting.

WebStrippers use of multiple monitors should now be much better (I don't have the facilities to test this. If you use multiple monitors I would be grateful for any feedback).

Two new features are a friendlier date format in the 'Welcome page' and the Queued Sites window and system which will allow you to submit bug reports directly to me if an exception occurs.

You should also find there is less delay when clicking on a site in the site tree and being able to view the site, or move to another item.

As always, you can download the latest trial version here. Paying users can upgrade for free using the link in their registration email.

V2.73 - Schedule Bug Fix

V2.73 has been uploaded. This version contains a fix for the schedule settings which weren't being read correctly into the Site Wizard when the sites setting where being edited.

We are currently doing some major revisions to the scheduling system for version 3 and a new beta will be released later.
Registered users can download the new version by following the links in the registration email, or the trial version can be downloaded here

Versions 2.72 and 3 Beta 3

New features in both versions:

WebStripper now displays the latest news items within it's 'welcome' page/

The welcome page has been slightly tidied up.

Some more tidying has been done of the display for Windows Vista

Extra features in the new beta include:

The icons of downloaded sites are now shown both in the site tree and recent downloads list.

CSS both in separate files and within the HTML file are now parsed.

The trial versions can be downloaded here. Registered users can download either version using the instructions in their registration email.

Version 3 beta 2 Released

The latest beta test version has now been uploaded. This version includes all the updates to version 2 since the first beta was released.

It also includes a completely revised process for logging in to websites which includs support for forms based logins.

There are two methods websites can use for logging in (or authentication). The first uses a small pop up window and is called HTTP authentication. The second uses a from built into a webpage. This method is typically used for logging in to bulletin boards and shopping websites.

WebStripper has always supported HTTP logins. This new version adds support for form logins. WebStripper automatically works out which type of login is required for the site - all you need to do is specify the page address.

For forms logins you can tell WebStripper both the page you want to log in at, and a separate page on which to start the download. This may be useful on some sites.

This version also adds the ability to enter your username and password when you start the download, so that your details are not stored in WebStrippers data files.

Note that this beta will expire in December 2007.

You can download the trial versionhere. Regsitered users can download the beta by visiting the webpage listed in their registration email (don't use the direct download link).

Version 2.70 released

Version 2.70 has been updated for compatibility with Windows Vista.

The visual interface has been upgraded to take advantage of Vistas new look and feel (which also enhances the look on Windows XP).

The default location for storing files has also been updated to the latest Microsoft standards - under Vista downloaded sites are stored under C:\Users. Under XP files are now stored under C:\Documents and Settings. To change the default location go to the menu item Options/Options/New Site. If you are upgrading from a previous version your existing default download folder location will be left unchanged.

This version also adds support for 'grabbing' the current address from the Firefox browser.

The trial version can be downloaded here. Updated in this version is:

The New Site entry on the Welcome page now works with URLs starting with http://
Fixed a missing file error at startup in the trial version.
The online help has now been updated to use HTML Help, in readiness for Windows Vista which no longer supports WinHelp style help files.
An access violation at shut down should now be cured.
V2.68 had a problem downloading password protected web sites. This has now been fixed.
The display of registered users information in the about box has been tidied up.

This beta includes a completely rewritten HTML parser which is up to 50% faster than the old version. The new engine is also much more versatile than the old one and will make it much easier to add new features.

I won't make any promises as to what new features are planned in case they don't appear and people get disappointed, but there should be some nice extra stuff before too long.

The only known issues are that some extra tags may be left in the source code when a site is reparsed, and comments may be searched for links when they shouldn't be. Neither of these will affect browsing of the downloaded sites.

WebStripper V2.67 released

WebStripper V2.67 has been released.
New in this version:
* Command line options can be used to automate downloads from within a batch script, closing WebStripper down afterwards in necessary. See the help file under 'Command Line Options' for more information.

* Some windows where appearing in the wrong place on screen. This has been fixed.
